West Avenue Elementary offers a wide range of instructional strategies based on current brain research. Students are taught the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) by a highly trained staff of professional educators. Students learn research skills as well as how to integrate technology into their daily lives through the use of the school’s two state-of-the-art computer labs. West Avenue strives to educate the hearts and minds of all its students.

Our Special Programs include: Accelerated Reader Program, Reading Buddies, Literacy Groups, Book Fair, Gifted & Talented, Content Mastery, Special Education and Resource, Learners Assistance Program, Music and Arts Program, UIL, Guidance Counseling Program, Partners in Education, Kindergarten Round-Up, Herman Reading, English as a Second Language, Bilingual, Character Education, Communities in Schools, Dell Computer Lab, and Library Research Lab.
Extracurricular Programs include: Praise Dancers, Step Group, 3rd/4th/and 5th grade Singing Choir, Community Service Activities, After School Accelerated Instruction, and Orff Choir.
