WHS vs Gatesville

The Freshman boys soccer team played last night against Gatesville and defeated them 3-1! Goals were scored by Luis Amador, Geobanni Betancourt, and Francisco Ramirez. Zachary Gibson had two assits and Pablo Alejandro provided great offensive options on the left midfield for the lions.

WHS vs Cleburne

Monday (Feb27) night the jv boys soccer team traveled to Cleburne to face those feisty yellow jackets. Tthe boys put a great game of soccer together and came away with a victory with a score of 2-1! Cameron Mccutcheon and Jjulio Loredo (pk) were the goal scorers for the lions. The lions' outstanding and solid defensive players were Eder Corvera, Aaron Balderas, and Caleb Moreno. Overall the team played well as they focused on the fundamentals of the game.

On 2/21, the varsity soccer boys will be playing AT Mexia at 7:30. On 3/16, the varsity soccer boys will HOST Mexia at Waco ISD Stadium at 5:30.

Our Freshman boys Soccer team played last night against Alvarado and defeated them 2-0! Goals were scored by Zack Gibson. Our midfielders Geobanni Betancourt, Jesus Ramirez and Rafael Medina did an outstanding job creating the goal opportunities for the lions.

WHS SoccerWaco High Students Give Soccer Team Big Send Off

The Waco High Men's Soccer team was treated to a spirit-filled send off as they boarded the bus to the Regional Semifinal game in Humble, Texas! Students assembled outside, waving flags and cheering for their team, as the WHS Band provided the rhythm. The team paraded down 42nd street for all to see. It was clear that the WHS students were very proud of their achievements and wished them the best of luck on the road. The team boarded the bus and started their journey to the semifinals knowing they had the support of the school they've represented so well this year. The Pride of Waco is very much alive!

Senior Showcase MVP

Kollin KahlerOver the weekend, Kollin Kahler participated in the Senior Showcase game held at the campus on Southwestern (Georgetown, TX). The game featured the best soccer student-athletes from each of the four regions across the state of Texas. Kollin represented region 2, with their opponent being region 3. At halftime, the score was tied 0-0. Ten minutes into the second half, Kollin had a breakaway and scored the games first goal. The final score was 2-2. After the game, Kollin was selected as the games MVP and was awarded the game ball.

A personal "thank you" to Mr. Simmons for coming out and supporting Kollin and the Waco High School Soccer Program.

WHS Senior Named Super-Centex Player of the Year

Kollin Kahler (senior) was selected Waco Tribune-Herald's Soccer Super-Centex Player of the Year for the 2nd year in a row. Kollin finished the season with 45 goals and 18 assists. His career numbers are 104 goals and 41 assists.

Ben Diaz (freshman) was selected Waco Tribune-Herald's Soccer Super-Centex Newcomer of the Year. Ben finished the season with 16 goals and 13 assists.

Congratulations to Jacob Davis. He was selected to the Waco Tribune-Herald Super-Centex Soccer Team (Honorable Mention). Jacob finished the season with 19 goals and 33 assists. Jacob lead the scoring attack in our play-off game against Jacksonville. His career numbers are 39 goals and 57 assists. Jacob is one of the hardest working soccer student-athletes that I have seen.

Also, Cesar Adame, Ben Eades, Luis Espinosa, and Kollin Kahler received ALL-STATE ACADEMIC. These gentlemen have an overall G.P.A. greater than 90. All four of them are varsity soccer student-athletes.

Please congratulate these gentlemen on their accomplishments.

TASCO Senior Showcase

Kollin Kahler has been selected to participate in this year's TASCO Senior Showcase for soccer. (The only player from our district to the recognized.)

The Senior Showcase will be held at Southwestern University in Georgetown on May 1st. The girls will have a breakfast at 9 am followed by the game at 11 am. The boys will have a breakfast at 11 am followed by a 1 pm game.

Students Become Coaches

Joined with the varsity soccer team are the 2010 participants of the Soccer Buddy Program. These kiddos practice every Saturday, with instruction provided by the student-athletes and coaches of the Waco High boys' soccer program.

WHS Soccer Getting Involved

A few weeks ago, the Waco High boys' soccer program participated in the Really Big Fishing Event for Really Special People. The young men assisted the participants at the booths, escorted them around the facility and some participated in the "dance-off". It was a very rewarding experience for our young men of Waco High and for the community.

WHS Varsity Boys' Soccer Team Defeats China Spring

February 6th - The varsity boys' soccer team defeated China Spring Friday night, Feb. 5th, with a score of 7-1. Their next game is Wednesday at 5:30 at Waco ISD stadium against Lorena.

WHS Soccer Teams Kick-In 2010

The JV and Varsity Soccer teams traveled to Belton and returned victorious. The JV won 3-0 with Hector Maldonado, Adrian Balderas and Kevin Espinosa each scoring a goal. Desmond Johnson was the defensive standout. The Varsity won 3-2 with Kollin Kahler, Ben Diaz and Oscar Rivera scoring a goal. Cesar Adame and Ernesto Guevara were the key defensive players. Jacob Davis lead the way with 2 assists.

All three teams return to action, Tuesday, January 5th as the Freshman (4:30 pm) and JV (6:00 pm) host Midway and Varsity (8:00 pm) hosts the 1ST ANNUAL ALUMNI GAME. All three games will be played at Paul Tyson.
