Mountainview Elementary International Baccalaureate Candidate School is a highly rated WISD neighborhood school. As an IB candidate campus, the Primary Years Programme curriculum includes PK - 4th grade Spanish instruction, a fine arts emphasis (art and music), an outdoor courtyard classroom and curriculum delivered through thematic units. The campus hosts speakers from around the world and has a dynamic spring International Marketplace. Students benefit from gifted and talented instruction, wireless computer labs with technology instruction, field trips which facilitate higher learning levels and FOSS hands-on science labs. Academic instruction is enhanced through small-group literacy centers (grades 1-2) and math manipulative labs (grades 3-4). Mountainview is a professional development campus, meaning that teachers mentor Baylor juniors and seniors pursuing teaching degrees. In addition to the Baylor students' roles as classroom assistants, the collaboration with Baylor's School of Education results in dynamic, research-driven teaching strategies. Mountainview's spacious campus design includes six grade-level buildings, each with a separate international theme complete with a colorful continent mural and country flags. The school library offers an extensive book collection, multiple computer research stations and a story center. Parent involvement is central to our success. A strong PTA is involved in day-to-day activities through volunteerism and planning. For more information, visit or call 772-2520.
