Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up

  1. The students may be dropped off and picked up on the cafeteria (river side) side of the building.
  2. All students driving vehicles to school must register their cars and display the AJ Moore Parking permit on the rearview mirror.
  3. In order to receive a parking permit, students must show proof of insurance and a current driver's license.

A.J. Moore Social Skills Program

In an effort to have a safe, orderly school environment, students will be taught classroom social skills as a part of the AJ Moore Social Skills program. The program is designed to teach students how to accept responsibility for their behavior, how to respect the rights of others, how to solve problems, and how to make choices and decisions that can benefit them or that are in the best interest of others. At the beginning of school, students will be taught the social skills on a systematic schedule, and all teachers will follow the same procedures for correction of behaviors. Listed below are the social skills scheduled to be taught this year.

  • Following instructions
  • Accepting "No" for an answer
  • Getting the teacher's attention
  • Disagreeing appropriately
  • Resisting peer pressure
  • Talking with others
  • Accepting compliments
  • Reporting other youth's behavior
  • Accepting criticism or a consequence
  • Greeting others
  • Making a request
  • Giving criticism
  • Making an apology
  • Giving compliments
  • Volunteering
  • Introducing yourself

School-Wide Procedures

  1. Demonstrate respect and courtesy to all adults and peers.
  2. Go quickly and quietly to class and be in room when the tardy bell rings.
  3. Bring supplies to class each day (books, pencil or other items required by your teacher).
  4. Cooperate immediately when asked to do something.
  5. Complete all school work.
  6. Respect and take care of all school property.

Dress Code

All students are expected to follow the dress and grooming guidelines as outlined in the student code of conduct. This information is listed in the back of the Waco ISD High School Student/Parent Handbook. Students should be aware that piercings may be worn in the ears only. HEAT (Help Eliminate Academic Tardiness)

  1. HEAT will be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week. If you are assigned to HEAT you are to report to HEAT after getting your lunch.
  2. Students who fail to complete work will be required to attend HEAT until all assignments are satisfactorily completed.

Bulldog Pride Letter Jacket Program

"Bulldog Pride" is an incentive program to help motivate AJ Moore students to do their personal best at all times. As you participate in various activities, you will earn points towards acquiring a letter jacket and patches. The criteria for earning points is as follows:

  • Passing the Reading, Writing, and Math TAKS Exit Tests: If a student passes all three tests, they earn 350 points. For each section passed, the student can earn 25 points.
    • 9th-all tests passed equals 50 points
    • 10th-all tests passed equals 100 points
    • 11th-all tests passed equals 100 points
  • Attendance and Tardies: Students who attend school each day in a semester earn 100 points. If they are also on time at each period of each day in the semester, they earn an additional 100 points.
  • Discipline Referrals: Students who receive no discipline referrals in a nine week period of time can earn 100 points.
  • Grades: Students who have no failing grades in a semester can earn 100 points.
  • Club Participation: Students who have a 90% participation in club meetings and activities during a semester can earn 100 points.
  • Community Service: Students who receive 10 hours or more per school year will earn 50 points.
  • Accelerated Reader: Students who participate and reach the recommended goals of the Accelerated Reader program during a semester will earn 100 points.
    • 9th grade: 57 AR points
    • 10th grade: 62 AR points
    • 11th grade: 68 AR points
    • 12th grade: 75 AR point

2200 points = a Bulldog letter jacket

Points are carried over from one grading period to the next, as well as from one year to the next. When a student reaches 2,200 points, he/she is able to trade in points for a letter jacket. Students can continue to earn points for special patches after acquiring a jacket. Point values will vary with the different patches offered. For example:

  • "Bulldogs" Name 756 points
  • Chenille Bulldog 720 points
  • Graduation Year 576 points
  • A.J.M Block Letters 576 points
  • Embroidered Bulldog 153 points
